Leaves are falling

Saturday morning we took a walk through campus. IMG_0210Leaves had turned the usual red, brown and yellow and a slight breeze that picked up intermittently showered the landscape with a variety of shades, adding to the colorful display.IMG_0399

I crunched and kicked leaves all the while taking in the smell of autumn air, a crisp and familiar sensation.

Trees stood tall and proud offering up their vibrant and best show.IMG_0368 (1)

At that moment I felt there could be nothing more beautiful than the turn of leaves, fluttering at times in flurries and then calming to a trickle. Each time I tried to capture trees shedding what was left of their Autumnal attire I was quickly disappointed as everything came to a stop! Finally Soos jokingly offered to throw a leaf up in the air, but I declined.

She wandered nearby while I stared at trees, hoping to see just one more leaf fall.IMG_0274 (1)

One single leaf and then two until I had three photos. The blue sky white clouds and Fall trees had me mesmerized until I heard footsteps rustling behind me and realized it was time to go.

A child once more if only for a moment in time and enough to remind me that we need to live in the here and now, especially if it’s spent waiting for leaves to fall.IMG_0409.JPG

Top of the hill

This is the view at the top of the hill
as I turn the corner each day to walk

Top of the hill

Just as I lose focus

And round the stand still bend

No reason for elation

Assigned and taken in

Majestic views of nature

Colors from the past

Remind me to be grateful

For I am free at last

Don’t miss Autumn

Fall is here

I love Fall, it seems like an ending to summer but for me always feels like new beginnings. Here are some photos that bring Fall back to me any time of the year. I am working on my poetry book and hope it will be done in a couple of weeks.

Happy October

Fall

Sumaya took this photo on her walk to campus. She was amazed at the perfection of this leaf. Fall is almost fading into Winter.

Family time

This past weekend we went to visit our precious little family. The first night was spent relaxing, playing with the little ones and catching up. The next morning I was on duty to get the waking babies and take care of them so mom and dad could get a little extra sleep. It was pure Grama time, noone else was awake, so we sat in the recliner and snuggled for over an hour, it was total bliss! Osama and Jacki are amazing parents and don’t hesitate to give us each individual time with these wonderful boys who are all of the sudden toddlers.

After everyone woke, we got ready, picked Great Grama up and made our way to Green bluff. It was a gorgeous crisp Autumn day, no smoke overhead and only blue, sunny skies.

I had been told that it was early for apples but I still wanted to continue with our tradition before the next little one arrives!

The boys had fun, running through the grass, sampling various treats and riding on a wagon that was pulled by a tractor.

In one of the shops the boys discovered a large fluffy dog taking a nap. They cautiously approached and were fascinated by this kindly creature.

A quick look through two shops provided more fun, sampling fruit and buying pastries.

It was a lovely day and a fun weekend, so many blessings to be counted!
