Morning Coffee Cake

Coffee Cake

This basic tried and true recipe for coffee cake was passed on years ago by a good friend who had me for breakfast and coffee. I was new to cooking so this was easy and always worked out well. I will admit it is very basic but always easy and never fails! You can dress this up with fruit, cream cheese or whatever you like! Give it a try it’s a sure winner.

1 cup sugar

1 egg

1 cup milk

1/3 cup butter

2 cups flour

1 Tbs. baking powder

2/3 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup flour

6 Tbs. butter

1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Mix ingredients to make a crumbly topping

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Mix sugar and butter until fluffy, add other ingredients and mix well. Using only half of the batter spread into prepared pan, Sprinkle half of topping over batter and then dot with remaining batter and topping mixture. Bake this for 30-35 minutes or until done. We topped with blueberries. Delicious every time!
