I am not sure and no way would they allow that there, but it must be. Stores have little things like this that are then taken down if religious police stop and complain but there are many items like this one. Holiday candy is seen at the local Tamimi(safeway) and people grab it up or it is also taken away. So, little special treats that make Westerners feel at home.
I was wondering – it definitely looks like one. Paul and I have a lot of ornaments from our travels, and I would always be on the lookout for one, even somewhere I wouldn’t think I could find one.
I enjoy seeing things that were part of your life in Saudi that show the beauty of the culture. Never mind the Barbie. She shows somebody’s sense of humor. I like that the religious police considered her a threat. 🙂
I like the details you show us, Lynn! My miniature collection has a few things which are cute and a little precious. This is so gorgeous in details, I envy it. Ha ha! 🙂
Really ornate coffee pot, that one looks like Aladdin’s lamp.

I have a similar pitcher. The lid is hollow and the finial unscrews. I have wondered if there is a functional purpose to the hollow lid.

The coffee pot is beautiful. I have a lamp like that one. I can’t remember where I bought it. Daughter claimed it as hers and has it in her room now.

Barbie looks so tacky alongside that elegant coffee pot and the quirky camel! (But I never liked her, so I’m probably biased.)

I feel both fear and compassion for Barbie especially if she visits Saudi.

That is odd they have a Barbie-type doll in Western Dress when they eschew women dressing like that. Lovely pot and lamp though!

I love your pictures of these everyday objects. Is the camel a Christmas ornament?
