sorry yes! when I first posted this I did not see it in the reader and I thought you might still be there and you were the first to like! sorry you probably thought I was sleep walking! lol
The shops, and stalls in the souk, are all so colourful, and the office buildings are quite uniquely shaped. Riyadh looks a very interesting place. Thank you for sharing your lovely pictures.
The material and dresses shop is so gorgeous! And are those gold chains a headpiece?? Why? No one would see it under the burqa. Is it to be worn over?? Or is it something else entirely?
Their office buildings are in such unusual shapes!!
It is hot most of the year and just cooler and dustier that is all really. now it might be easily be 105 it starts slowly getting cooler and will get to maybe 65 in december january
I know when we arrived to saudi, no fast food, or local fast food, no malls, now it is just crazy! Really mall are every where, a simple grocery store, now a huge hyper one with a mall! It is just too much!
I completely agree, for me they’ve lost their essence. In their efforts to make Dubai shiny and new and all things huge and extreme, they’ve lost some heart as far as I’m concerned. I know people love it as it is now, and it’s all a matter of personal taste, but I loved the scruffy old souks and shops and restaurants…
Surreal – a real place of contrasts

Those dresses look pretty and very ornate as is all that golden jewelry.
The sure are creative with their architecture aren’t they.

yes they are! There are huge strange looking buildings and then old rubble right near by!

What is the weather like this time of year there? Hot, I assume – but dry as well? (Again, probably a dumb question, it being a desert).
